Music Brings Life is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that educates young people in the Black, Latino, and Caribbean communities about the importance of donating blood.

Donating blood is a community responsibility. We must work together to make sure that blood is available whenever a sick person needs it. You never know when you, a family member, friend, or someone in your community will need a blood transfusion. The Music Brings Life Foundation's goal is to ensure that a genotypic blood supply is available for people before it is needed.

Founded in 2009, Music Brings Life delivers educational presentations and hosts music events to inspire and engage with prospective donors in ethnic communities. Additionally, we facilitate the donation process by partnering with blood collection agencies across the country.

Our approach to recruiting donors has been successful. Support from community leaders, Music Brings Life has raised over 5,000 units of lifesaving blood. Since a unit of donated blood can be divided into different components that can help as many as three patients in need. Music Brings Life's Heroes Donate Blood Program has helped save more than 20,000 lives!

In 2016, we began working with our partners, the Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patients Network (SCTPN), and the New York City Department of Education to expand our mission.

"In order to help people in these communities understand the importance of becoming blood donors, we first need to get their attention, and we accomplish this through music and entertainment."

The best way to get more people to donate blood and help save lives is to inform and educate them. This is the mission of Music Brings Life.
